Top reasons to visit Aruba
I had the opportunity to visit Aruba at the end of September. To be honest, Aruba was never on my travel wish list because it seemed so off the beaten path. It also seemed more like a family destination, which wasn’t what I wanted since I don’t have kids.
But after spending four days on Aruba, I can recommend it as a low-key beach vacation destination, especially during hurricane season when you might decide to avoid the rest of the Caribbean. If you’re considering visiting Aruba soon, here are my top reasons for visiting Aruba
- it’s the sunniest island in the Caribbean
There’s nothing worse than looking forward to a beach vacation and having it rain all the time! Luckily, Aruba has more sunny days than any other island in the Caribbean.
Due to its location near South America and outside of the Caribbean hurricane belt, Aruba has pleasant weather almost year round.
The weather is one of the main reasons I visit Aruba, as you are almost guaranteed sunshine on your trip!
- Soft white sand
I admit it. I’m a snob. A beach snob, that is. I’ll always choose the white sand before any other beach. Sorry, black sand and plain brown sand.
Aruba has some of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen, with the softest, silkiest, powdery white sand.
I stayed in Palm Beach, Aruba, which has amazing wide white sandy beaches. TripAdvisor named neighboring Eagle Beach one of the 25 best beaches in the world! If you need more reasons to visit Aruba, this is a very good one!
- Crystal clear ocean
I love the beach, but I get a little nervous when I can’t see the ocean. I think it’s because I grew up in the interior of Canada so I didn’t spend much time at the beach.
In Aruba, the water was the perfect temperature (aka not cold!) ) and I could see my feet on the ocean floor. The water was also a beautiful turquoise color. I only wish we had had time to snorkel during our stay!
- Peaceful sunrise
We stayed in west-facing Palm Beach. So even though we didn’t see the sunrise, the soft light of the morning sunrise was amazing. It had beautiful shades of purple and pink.
I’m not an early riser, but the 5am wake up call to get up at sunrise was totally worth it! The beach next to our hotel was also very quiet in the early morning, perfect for a sunrise stroll (or in our case, an Instagram photo haha).
